Chinzan-so Garden is a beautifully preserved historic garden located on the grounds of the Hotel Chinzan-so in Bunkyo. Once the estate of a Meiji-era statesman, this enchanting garden features a cascading waterfall, a three-story pagoda, and hundreds of stone lanterns scattered across moss-covered grounds.
What to Expect
Visitors can stroll through winding paths that pass by a tranquil pond, ancient camphor trees, and seasonal blooms including cherry blossoms in spring and fiery maples in autumn. The pagoda, relocated from Hiroshima, stands as the garden's centerpiece. The garden is open to the public and offers a serene escape from the surrounding city.
Getting There
Take the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line to Edogawabashi Station and walk about 10 minutes, or use the JR Yamanote Line to Mejiro Station with a 15-minute walk. The garden is also accessible by bus from Ikebukuro Station.
