Meguro Sky Garden

Meguro Sky Garden is an architectural marvel and one of Tokyo's most unique green spaces. Built atop the Ohashi Junction, a massive highway interchange where the Metropolitan Expressway Route 3 meets the Yamate Tunnel, this innovative rooftop park demonstrates Tokyo's commitment to creative urban greening. The park opened in 2013 and has become an iconic landmark in the Meguro area.

The park's spiral design allows visitors to walk from ground level up to the rooftop garden, transitioning seamlessly from urban infrastructure to a peaceful natural retreat. Its creation was part of a broader urban redevelopment project that transformed an industrial highway interchange into a community asset.

What to Expect

The park features a distinctive circular and sloping design that wraps around the junction structure. Walking paths spiral upward through landscaped gardens featuring seasonal flowers, plum trees, and ornamental plantings. At the top, visitors are rewarded with panoramic views of the Tokyo skyline and the surrounding Meguro neighborhood.

The garden includes a variety of themed planting areas, benches for relaxation, and viewing platforms that offer unique perspectives of both the city and the highway architecture below. The nearby Prism Tower and Cross Air Tower complement the modern design. At night, the park takes on a different character with illuminated pathways and city lights creating a romantic atmosphere.
