Jindai Botanical Garden
Jindai Botanical Garden is Tokyo's only public botanical garden, located in the western suburb of Chofu City near the historic Jindaiji Temple. Spanning over 25 hectares, the garden features an impressive collection of over 100,000 plants representing approximately 4,500 species. Operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, it serves as both a beautiful recreational space and an important center for botanical research and conservation.
What to Expect
The garden is organized into themed areas including a spectacular rose garden with over 5,000 bushes, an azalea garden that bursts into color each spring, a cherry blossom grove, and a plum orchard. The large greenhouse complex houses tropical and subtropical plants from around the world, including orchids, bromeliads, and carnivorous species. Seasonal displays ensure there is always something in bloom. The garden also features a traditional Japanese landscape area, a aquatic plant garden with water lilies and lotuses, and a shop selling plants and gardening supplies.
