Nogawa Park

Nogawa Park is a sprawling metropolitan park spanning the cities of Chofu, Mitaka, and Koganei in western Tokyo. Named after the Nogawa River that flows through its grounds, the park covers approximately 25 hectares and serves as a major recreational destination for the Tama area. The park's natural setting along the river valley provides a refreshing escape from the denser urban areas to the east.

The park occupies land that was once part of the Musashino countryside, and elements of that rural character remain in its landscape design. The Nogawa River, a clear tributary of the Tama River, creates a natural corridor that supports diverse plant and animal life within the park boundaries.

What to Expect

Nogawa Park offers extensive sports facilities including tennis courts, baseball fields, and athletic grounds. The park's network of natural trails follows the Nogawa River through wooded areas and open meadows, providing excellent opportunities for walking, jogging, and cycling. Bicycle paths connect the park to nearby green spaces and the Jindai-ji Temple area.

The riverside environment supports a rich ecosystem with seasonal wildflowers, aquatic plants, and bird life. Picnic areas and open lawns are scattered throughout the grounds, offering plenty of space for family activities. The park also features a barbecue area and playground equipment. Cherry blossom trees along the river create beautiful scenery in spring, while autumn brings colorful foliage to the wooded areas.
