Shinjuku Central Park

Shinjuku Central Park is a welcome green oasis tucked among the towering skyscrapers of Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo's premier business district. Adjacent to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the park provides office workers, residents, and tourists with a surprisingly tranquil space to relax, exercise, and enjoy nature amid the urban jungle. Its convenient location makes it one of the most accessible parks in central Tokyo.

What to Expect

The park features a series of water features including fountains and small cascading streams that provide a refreshing atmosphere during hot summer months. Walking paths wind through groves of cherry trees, ginkgo trees, and seasonal flower beds. Benches and seating areas offer spots to rest while taking in views of the surrounding skyscrapers, creating a dramatic contrast between nature and architecture. The park includes a small playground, open areas for tai chi and exercise groups, and a memorial to the victims of the atomic bombing. From the park, visitors can easily access the free observation decks of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building for panoramic city views.
